Calling your Representative about the PUMP Act is easy! Here's how.

The U.S. House of Representatives is preparing to vote on the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections (PUMP) for Nursing Mothers Act (H.R. 3110).

This is a big step, and because of that, it's truly very important that members of the House hear from constituents – individuals, organizations, and businesses in their district – asking them to vote YES for the PUMP Act. These calls take 2 minutes and can literally make the difference between a yes or no vote.

Just text PUMP to 747464 (provided by MomsRising) or call 1-855-880-2155 (provided by ACLU). You'll be prompted to enter your zip code, and then will be connected with the office of your congressperson. If for any reason your call doesn't go through, you'll be redirected to the Capitol switchboard, which will ask you for the name of your Representative. If you don't know, you can ask them to look it up for you by providing your zip code. They'll then connect you to the correct office.

When the receptionist answers, all you need to do is let them know your name, your address, and that you want them to vote yes on the PUMP Act, House Bill 3110. If you are part of an organization or business, be sure to mention that too.

Nervous about making the call? We're here to support you! Here's exactly what you can expect.

When you call, you'll be speaking to a receptionist at the office. Their job is to record how many calls are coming in each day about specific bills or policy areas. This is why it is so important that we maintain a high volume of calls going into offices each day until the bill goes to the floor!

When you are connected to the office of your Representative, a receptionist will answer. Let them know your name, your address, and that you want them to vote yes on the PUMP Act, House Bill 3110. Or, simply read from the script below:

Hello, my name is [________]. I live in [city, state, zip code] and am a constituent of Representative [name]. I’m calling to urge [him/her/them] to vote yes in support of House Bill 3110, the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act. This bill will cover 9 million women of childbearing age who don’t currently have protections that would give them time and a private space to pump breast milk at work. This is wrong and must be fixed. Passage of the PUMP Act would make a world of difference for families and I hope you’ll vote yes when it comes to the floor.

You will not be asked questions about the bill or anything else. Reading the script is all you need to do.

Ideally, calls will be made during business hours, but if this doesn't work for you, don't stress! You can call after hours and leave a voicemail. Follow the same instructions to leave your message, and that's it!

Your call will truly make a difference. Please pick up the phone today!
