Action Opportunity: Organizational Sign On Letter Urging Emergency Funding for Infant and Young Child Feeding

The USBC has launched an organizational sign-on letter urging members of Congress to support supplemental funding for infant and young child feeding in emergencies. The joint letter urges Congress to include $10 million for infant and young child feeding in the fourth Congressional COVID-19 response package. The coronavirus pandemic and pandemic-response have disrupted early attachment and compromised the initiation and establishment of breastfeeding, disproportionately impacting communities of color and those who are otherwise marginalized. Funding is needed to support the breastfeeding field to deliver lactation support services in the context of restraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Protecting breastfeeding is critical for ensuring food security and immunologic protection for infants born during this pandemic. Organizations are invited to sign-on via the online formThe deadline to sign on has been extended to Friday, May 1.
